HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The Hurricane course starts with a 183-yard par-3 that drops in elevation, usually playing about 1 club less than the scorecard yardage. This green features a wide open front, receptive to all types of shots. The rear is guarded by a couple of bunkers, which really don’t come into play.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 402-yard par-4 second is a straightaway hole. The water on the left will only come into play for a severe miss, as most players will carry their tee-shots past it. From the fairway, you’ll have a short iron to the a green that is open in the front and protected bunkers on either side. The putting surface is one of the flattest you’ll encounter.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 401-yard par-4 third hole is a slight dogleg left with a rolling fairway. Two fairway bunkers on the right come into play for the tee-shot. The wide fairway is lined on either side by heavy vegetation. You’ll have a middle to short iron for the approach to the large green, protected in the front and on the right by deep greenside bunkers.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 507-yard par-5 fourth hole features one of the largest landing areas for the drive at Pelican’s Nest. It gives you an opportunity to let loose, and possibly get home in two. For those laying up their second shot, the playable area begins to narrow a little, but is still wider than average. The shallow two-tiered green is protected by two pot bunkers front and back, and another larger bunker on the front right.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 410-yard par-4 fifth hole is straightforward. From the tee, you’ll see the large fairway bunker on the right, but not the pond on the left, which may come into play for the long hitters. The second is perhaps one of the most intimidating shots at Pelican’s Nest, as the pond protrudes in front of the green and a couple large bunkers guard the right and back.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 328-yard par-4 sixth hole may be the shortest par 4 on Hurricane, but the narrow driving area is protected on both sides by water, putting a premium on accuracy off the tee. With the ball on the fairway, you’ll have only a short iron for the approach, although not an easy shot by any means, as a large bunker guards the front of this shallow and undulating green.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 199-yard par-3 seventh hole requires a well struck long iron shot to carry over the lake, in order to reach the large green, open in the front and receptive to various types of shots. This deep two-tiered green has a gradual back to front slope.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 504-yard par-5 eight is a phenomenal hole, that requires committed strategic decisions and solid execution. A fairway bunker on the right narrows the fairway which is lined in the left by out of bounds. For the second shot it’s decision time! Lay up short or left of the bunkers, or try to carry the water and that enormous bunker to reach one of the smallest greens on the golf course.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 436-yard par-4 ninth hole puts pressure on your driving abilities, as water on both sides of the narrow fairway create strong on-the-tee nerves. After a good tee shot, you will be left long iron or fairway wood for your approach shot to the green, which is relatively open and large, allowing low shots to run up to the surface. A par here is a true accomplishment.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 409-yard tenth hole is a straightaway par-4. The drive must fly through an avenue of trees and over the waste area to reach the fairway, flanked by a large fairway bunker on the right. Miss left and the result will often be a lost or unplayable ball. Water comes into play to the right of this, otherwise, generous green.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
Although the 160-yard par-3 eleventh hole is short in length, it can be deceivingly difficult. The small green is rather narrow and deep with a large waste bunker on the left side. Hit any part of this green and you’ll have a makeable birdie put. Miss the green and you might be writing a large number on the scorecard.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 399-yard par-4 twelfth hole is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The fairway is defined by a water hazard on the left and a straight tree line on the right, leaving no margin for error off the tee. Only a short iron will be left for the approach to a green with emphasized right and left halves. A good approach and a birdie is possible.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 417-yard par-4 thirteenth hole is a slight dogleg left. The elevated fairway hides the green from the tee box. However, you will see a deep fairway bunker on the left. For your second, you’ll have a middle iron to a fairly open green. The water on the right comes into play, especially for shots missed long.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 556-yard par-5 fourteenth hole is long, but generous. The landing area for the drive is rather wide. Two fairway bunkers on the left define the elbow of the dogleg. From here, longer hitters can opt to layup to about 100 yards, or hit a high fairway wood, over these bunkers on the right and maybe run it up to the two-tiered green. Find the wrong level and you might face a monster putt.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The 393-yard par-4 sixteenth is straightaway. Water on the left, and two fairway bunkers on the right defend this wide fairway. With a well-placed tee shot, you’ll have a short iron to a rather deep green, divided into 2 tiers by a ridge in the middle. Distance control on your approach is key, especially when the flag is located in the upper tier.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
It is the tee shot on the 355-yard par-4 seventeenth hole that can make or break your round. The fairway is guarded by hazards on the right and left. In addition to the hazards, the landing area only 30 yards wide, leading most players to leave their driver in the bag. The green is protected on the right by a sand bunker, and on the left by a grass bunker and water.

HOLE DESCRIPTION:
The scenic 483-yard par-5 eighteenth is perhaps one of the best finishing holes in golf. It can yield many birdies and eagles, as well as those so-called “others.” It is a dogleg to the right with a narrow landing area between hazards. Those accurate enough to find the fairway will have an opportunity to hit their second shot over the water in an attempt to reach the green, dangerously surrounded by hazards.
